Pathfinder Club

Pathfinders is an international youth organization sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist Church for youth from 5th grade through their sophomore year in high school. The Pathfinders organization has been in existence for over 50 years and grew out of a youth program with its roots dating back to 1879. Worldwide, there are now nearly 65,000 Pathfinder clubs in 180 countries, with a total membership of close to 2 million.

What's Pathfinders about?

Although Pathfinders does share aspects with the Boy and Girl Scouts of America, there are key differences. Following are the six key ingredients of the Pathfinder program:

  1. Build relationships with Christ: the central purpose of a Pathfinder club is to lead its members into a growing, redemptive relationship with Christ.
  2. Teach young Christians to witness: Pathfinders share in the role of telling others about Christ.
  3. Grow Responsible Citizens: Pathfindering helps youth grow: mentally, physically, and spiritually. The curriculum emphasizes growth in all three areas, and the honors program provides a means with which to apply these skills.
  4. Provide Positive Mentors: Today's youth need mentors and role models. Mentoring helps children determine the purpose God has for their lives.
  5. Build Community: Pathfinders learn how to work with others to accomplish goals within their club and their surrounding community.
  6. Create Fun and Fellowship: In today's world, providing a safe environment where youth can gather and enjoy each other's company is important. Pathfinder clubs allow youth to interact in positive ways through group activities such as outdoor and camping events, game nights, and lock-ins.

Registration Information for 2010-2011

Registration night was in August. Last chance to register is at the first meeting on September 1, at 6:00pm, in the Richmond Academy gym.
